timelines
Timelines is a collaborative site-specific installation made with artist Michael Omlin, created for the Salzhaus in Brugg, Switzerland, a building dating from 1732. Omlin works primarily with light, and the collaboration moved from concept through to the physical occupation of the space.
The attic was once used to store salt. The installation returns salt to the space, but reduced to a single crystal, visible under a stereomicroscope. Wooden boards become a hanging bridge, light activates the existing structures, and the space turns theatrical. Visitors move through it, between the monumental and the microscopic.
