soloist

In dance, a soloist is the one who breaks from the ensemble. Not wrong, just distinct. Their difference is precisely what makes them visible.

A grid of bodies, all moving in the same direction. Almost all. One faces the other way, a small disruption, easy to miss and impossible to forget once seen. Soloist applies that logic to the page, choreographing with drawn bodies what would require hundreds of dancers to perform in a theatre.
